30 Before 30

Hello! It's been a while, right? Well, things have been pretty busy on my end--lots of final papers, studying, end-of-year extra-curricular events... Yesterday was my last day of classes (eek!) and now we head into about half a week of reading period before final exams officially start. It's crazy to think I'll be home in less than two weeks!

In other news, I'm already over a month into my twenties (spoiler alert: nothing feels different quite yet...) and I thought I'd write a bucket list of things I'd like to do in my twenties.

30 Before 30

visit Seattle.
learn how to play the piano.
take a Zumba class.
run a 5k.
write a book.

help my parents organize all our family photos.
host a New Year's Eve party. wear a sparkly dress.
learn a third language.
travel by myself.
eat vegetarian for three months.

find a charity or local cause that I'm really passionate about.
live in Manhattan.
go on another cruise with the family.
visit Madrid, London and Paris. Rome would be nice, too.
pay my parents back for all school expenses and loans.

go speed-dating.
graduate college.
adopt a puppy.
watch 200 of the IMDb's top 250 movies.
fall in love.

learn to curl my hair well enough that I could do it every day.
learn to like tea.
go ice skating at Rockefeller Center.
be part of a psychological study (more than just a five-minute survey)
find my signature dessert recipe.

ride in a sleeper car on a train.
get published in a magazine.
find an occupation I love.
be a homeowner.
plant my own garden.

anything else I should add? what's on your bucket list?

award and 15 facts about me

Hi everyone! The weekend so far has been fairly relaxing--filled with work, Kappa initiation, good food and a spontaneous movie outing.

It was made even better when I woke up on Friday and found that Slu over at Slu's World had awarded me with the Epically Awesome Award for Epic Awesomeness. Thanks Slu!

So in the spirit of accepting this award, I will list 15 facts about me.

1. I love celebrity news and tabloids. I visit and at least five times a day to check headlines.

2. When I was four, I wanted to grow up and live in an RV, or, as I called it, a "house on wheels." I planned to park it in front of my parents's house.

3. I have three piercings in each ear. I never take out the top two sets of earrings because I'm afraid of the piercings will close up. I do want to start experimenting with earring combinations.

4. I get really nervous driving on the highway.

5. I have never eaten a whole blueberry. Something about the texture and look freaks me out, but I have no problem eating things with blueberries in them--like a blueberry muffin or blueberry pie. But a plain blueberry? No way.

6. The first thing I do every morning is make my bed.

7. I am very conflicted about going to grad school. I'm really not sure about what path to take.

8. My favorite studying and essay-writing music is and probably always will be Backstreet Boys.

9. My favorite Disney movies are Beauty and the Beast and Lady and the Tramp.

10. Over the course of my life, I'd like to live in Manhattan, Vermont and Miami.

11. My favorite movie actresses are Emma Watson, Natalie Portman and Rachel McAdams.

12. I don't like coffee. Any drink from Starbucks or a coffee shop has to be sweetened and flavored--like a vanilla latte.

13. The only scar on my body is from pumpkin carving in 10th grade. It was a community service project and the 10th grade dean flipped out that a student got cut on his watch.

14. I like odd numbers better than even numbers. I'm so glad my birthday is March 11.

15. "Ladybug" has been my nickname since birth--but I only let my parents call me that.

Happy Sunday! Any fun plans for the week? I have a bunch of meetings lined up and really want to get started on essays before everything gets too overwhelming for finals!

some updates

  • I have two more weeks of classes. this is unbelievable.
  • I still have five more papers and three tests to get through. I might not be around much this April.
  • grey's anatomy and sushi from durfee's have become my lunch breaks.
  • the cherry blossoms are beautiful and for a few weeks yale will be absolutely gorgeous.
  • we did NOT get last in rooming draw this year! it was nothing short of a miracle, and I will be happily living in a much more spacious double in a sextet which is quite distinctly NOT on the fifth floor. no more towers for me.
  • speaking of towers, someone asked me on twitter if I lived in the towers of City College of New York. I wish. I really really wish. one day I'll make the city my home.
  • I'm currently on my bed, listening to the sound of traffic and rain. what a tranquil combination.
  • sorority initiation is this weekend. I have such fond memories of my own initiation last year. can't believe it's already been a year...
  • I just keep dreaming of summer vacation. oh, how wonderful it will be.
happy Friday everyone! what are you all up to this weekend?

April Goals

Image by Spencer Platt / Getty Images, seen here

April has always been that weird month for me. I'm impatient for the weather to really get its act together and warm up. I have one month left of school, and there's so much going on, but honestly all I want to do is walk around, enjoy the campus and chill out with friends. I want summer to start, but not the semester to end, which means I want to speed through April, but then again not too quickly.

Some goals:

1. survive the last few assignments and tests.
2. donate a bunch of old clothes and shoes I don't wear anymore
3. maintain a solid sleeping schedule, going to bed and waking up at the same times each day
4. focus on choosing healthier lunch and snack options
5. read some magazines in my spare time instead of idling on the internet
6. discover some new music (any suggestions?)
7. call home more often

Happy April everyone! :)

Something that's inspired me today: these incredible photos. the last one is my favorite.
